Minor league stadium to Malden, not Walpole

December 1, 2011

According to The Boston Globe, “a Boston group that for years has been scouting sites for a 6,500-seat minor league baseball stadium,” is now looking to build in Malden.

The group, called Boston Baseball Field of Dreams, wants to build a stadium for a minor league team that would compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, “where about 40 percent of the players are former major leaguers.”

I’d like to know why this group hasn’t looked to Walpole to build a stadium. What is so special about Malden? Walpole town officials should be dispatched immediately to explore this.

Or perhaps they’ve already ruled out Walpole. I don’t know the details. But I think Walpole has more to offer than Malden, and perhaps we can offer some incentive to lure them here.
