Walpole resident’s book soon to be film

October 3, 2011

Take a look at the trailer below for the upcoming film “GOON”, based off of the book Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey co-written by Walpole resident Adam Frattasio.

Frattasio’s wife, Kathleen, is a French teacher at Walpole High School (I had her as a teacher one time.)

The film cost $11 million to produce, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Reuters reports that Magnolia Pictures purchased the US rights to the film at a cost of $2 million. I don’t know how much Frattasio is getting off of it.

It was filmed in Canada and has apparently already been shown at the Toronto Film Festival (Toronto being a very hockey-oriented city) to rave reviews.

Note the appearance of Eugene Levy in this film. He is sure to make this film interesting, hopefully funny. It is billed as a part-comedy film.

Take a look at a Patriot Ledger story about it earlier this year.
